An interesting and decently illustrated book

I was pretty impressed by this book simply for the fact that it is a very general guide to shunga and does not assume any understanding of its history or of japanese culture or language, yet it is still quite informative and really skimps on neither information or illustrations. I was hoping for something a bit more in depth, but most people who aren't looking for a scholarly study of Shunga will appreciate this book.

About the Author
Ylleya Fields was hunting for books to read to her eldest daughter when she was 2, and was struck by the small selection of titles featuring modern African American characters. Blending both of her daughters’ images and personalities, she created Princess Cupcake Jones. Born in South America, she lives in Cleveland, Ohio. Michael LaDuca is an animator and illustrator who always knew his calling was in the arts. As a master of character expression and still-framed storytelling, he produces brilliant illustrations that charm audiences and bring storybooks to life. He lives in Buffalo, New York.

My daughter loves all of the Cupcake Jones series of books. This is now her new favorite. The bond and love between mother and daughter is perfectly illustrated. My daughter just realized that the word Love is hidden on each page of every book within the series. Again, driving the point about what these books are about and what to give and teach your children. Thank you Ylleya Fields! These books have had a wonderful impact on us.

I loved reading Princess Cupcake Jones and the Queens Closet to my 1 year old daughter. It was so delightful reading a story to my baby with a main character that looks like her. The Illustrations are also beautiful and as she gets older I am sure we will have lots of fun with the rhyming words. I am so happy to have the Princess Cupcake Jones book as part of my daughters library collection...P.S. her 8 and 6 year old brothers are also fans.
