Jeanette Zaichkin has been a neonatal nurse for more than 30 years. She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, and received her master's degree from the University of Washington. Jeanette has worked as a staff nurse, clinical nurse specialist, manager, and neonatal outreach coordinator in a variety of settings, including community hospitals and major medical centers. She has numerous publications and has served as a consultant and editor for the American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program since 1998. Jeanette leads Positive Pressure, her business enterprise that provides consultation and program development for neonatal resuscitation, simulation and debriefing, and instructor development.

NRP is better than ever!

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program has gone though many iterations since its inception. I thought the 7th edition of the textbook was the best version to date. It is easy to follow and memorable, with emphasis on teamwork, and special guidance in managing premature infants and special situations such as diaphragmatic hernia. I especially like the inclusion of LMA airways and a good detailed pictorial of how to insert them.

This is an easy to read comprehensive updated review of the care of distressed neonates. Key points and lesson reviews at the end of each chapter help to reinforce topics. Some topics are repeated throughout the book to help retention. Multiple case studies. This book makes it easy to pass the NRP 7th edition exam and is an excellent companion to the baby E-simulation learning tool cases on the AAP.org website. The book makes you a better caregiver for sure.

In "the Longsword Teachings of Master Liechtenauer: the Early Sixteenth Century Swordsmanship Comments in the 'Goliath' Manuscript", Zabinski presents an intensive source analysis on the "Goliath" manuscript (m.s. germ. quart. 2020), a medieval "fechtbuch" (fencing book) written anonymously in a South German dialect around 1510-1520. The Goliath consists of commentaries on the then 150-year-old verses of the great Master Johannes Liechtenauer and contains numerous early 16th century hand-drawn illustrations. Zabinski translates the comments and compares them with verses of earlier medieval treatises that follow the Liechtenauer tradition such as Hanko Döbringer (1389), Peter von Danzig (1452), and Sigmund Ringeck (1450s).

Zabinski examines the relevance of the Liechtenauer tradition in the context of evolving 16th century arms, armor, and warfare; discusses the instructional effectiveness of the commentaries; and among other possibilities, explores the objectiveness of the commentaries as a supplemental manual under study of a master or a form of accreditation. Furthermore, the book also includes a comprehensive practical examination on longsword combat that includes original text, translations, and exhaustive interpretations complemented by either source illustrations or supplemental reenacted photographs.

The book reads remarkably well and Zabinski conveys information clearly and effectively at an academic level--his research definitely contributes to the study of the Liechtenauer tradition. This book is no casual read and probably better suited for students that are more advanced or serious Historical European Martial Arts enthusiasts. Given its 595-page length and price, the print quality is excellent. Surprisingly, I was able to buy a discounted new copy online from Polish Arms in Poland, and even with international shipping cost, the book is absolutely worth it!

LOUISA MAY ALCOTT was born on November 29, 1832, in Germantown, Pennsylvania and grew up in Concord, Massachusetts. Educated by her father until she was sixteen, she later studied under Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Theodore Parker. A prolific writer, her most famous work, Little Women, is a timeless American classic.

Surprised by the style. Somber phrasing yet suspenseful. I thought her book would be less spiritual, as well. One's faith & upbringing seem to replace religion.

This book was fantastic - sad and true - I've lived one of these tales in my short lifetime.

It's great on audio, too.

One to remember - classic faustian tale.

Chilling... Beautiful... Evocative

I read Little Women in school and laughed all the way through it! I promised myself that I would never read Alcott's work again. But when I came across this book, I decided to give it a chance. This is NOT Little Women. This is an insightful, harrowing novel that is by no means for children. This book is a treasure! One you will want to read again and again!

Don't. I repeat don't waste your money.

This book was a complete waste of money (a lot of it too!) the exercises in the book are not clearly lined out, they provide minimal visuals so if you are new to the program you are left wondering what the heck they are talking about and where it might be. Then the exercises are left half done and they say, "So we will leave you here." Really? you don't even get to see the project to completion? Yes. They show you how great it will look when it is finished and then they don't even show you how to finish it. Also when I try to use the download files from their website they have an error in the program due to a "missing plugin." What a waste of time and money. You are better off looking up tutorials on youtube.

Lackluster exercises but overall satisfactory

As of this review I am about halfway through this book. Overall, several of the exercises feel satisfactory, but this book feels heavily lacking in proofreading and polish.

The modeling chapters start off very rocky and there are a few errors in the exercises, as well as steps that have obviously been skipped (especially in the clock modeling exercise, there is an obvious change in the accompanying images that is never mentioned once in the exercise steps)

The book picks up a bit later but it still feels very mediocre. I can not say that I would recommend this book very highly, especially when Autodesk offers FREE tutorials on their website that are of the same quality or better than what is presented here. The animation chapters are a real mess.

Then there's the exercise files. The exercise files are, for lack of a nicer word, incomplete. The exercise files for the very first exercise are missing images needed for the exercise. They just aren't there at all. Despite this, once you get further into the book the exercises seem to sharply increase in quality-- I am working through the Character Modeling sections right now and they are extremely well-written

Overall I feel like this is a *satisfactory* resource for beginners or low-intermediate 3DS Max users to pick up a few tips. However, be prepared to work through some lackluster exercises; if you like solving problems you will probably enjoy this book.

I really like how the past and the present were woven in ...

can't wait to read the second book! I really like how the past and the present were woven in together; it brought out why Miranda was the way she is and was revealed slowly instead of all at once giving the book at good pace. Also in the flashbacks, some of Jason was revealed also.

The circumstances that brought them back together was tragic, but if she hadn't run the second time, Miranda and Jason wouldn't have found each other. As it came out later in the book, Jason is a runner also. I do wish there had been more on how they found their "uncle". I really wanted to know because I became invested in their story, past and present.

Emma Clark did a fantastic job on the narration. She infused each character with their own distinct personality, didn't go too fast or too slow.

I highly recommend this book.

The WWLG: My go-to guide for programming

I’m very pleased to have just received the 6th edition of John Figliozzi’s Worldwide Listening Guide (WWLG).

You may want a copy of the WWLG in your shack–and, may I suggest, next to your computer or wi-fi radio.

While I’m a huge fan of the Word Radio TV Handbook (WRTH)–it’s my go-to guide for radio frequencies–Figliozzi’s Worldwide Listening Guide is my helpful companion for programming and for content.

Figliozzi exhaustively curates more than 4,000 programs, indexing their airing times, stations, days of broadcast, program types, frequencies, and web addresses. He also sorts the programs by genre: from arts, culture, and history; to music, sports, and more. In fact, he has a well-thought-out directory of at least forty genres–this directory has helped me locate programming about which I would otherwise have never known. Want to find jazz and blues programming, or shows focusing on sports? This book’s got you covered. Frankly, I’m not sure how Figliozzi manages to curate such a vast assortment of programming, but I’m happy he does, and that he offers it for our benefit!

Figliozzi even dedicates a section of his book to “The Big Six” English language broadcasters–namely, NPR, BBC, CBC, ABC, RTE and RNZ. These networks are widely regarded as the best in the business, with audience numbers to back this claim. The WWLG dedicates several pages to describing the structure and programming diversity of each, with listening tips and more.

I’ve always liked the WWLG, and it has become a permanent reference book in my shack, alongside my trusty WRTH. There is a surprising amount of information packed into this slim, spiral-bound book…enough to keep even a seasoned DXer contented for years.

A great introduction to radio listening in all of its many contemporary forms

This book has useful program/station listings and includes a long, very well written introduction to the radio listening hobby. The primary addition to the book for the next edition, in my opinion, would be a much more in-depth technical discussion on how radio broadcasting works, including lots of graphics. Personally, I didn't need this information, but I can see where it would be of great value to many readers.

Written in a kind of subtle way and romantic

This story reminds me on how diverse people are. You really don't know the true identity of a person unless you expose him or her to environments where he or she is not comfortable. This story also reminded me on how important it is to finally discover yourself. And to do that, it is always good to chase new experiences whether you talk to a new type of person, go to some places you've never been before, and so on. The context is purely romance and related matters which helped developed the story. There are a lot of things to be picked up here and at the same time, the flow of the story will get you reading for more. To be honest I kind of got disappointed when the story finished cause I just want more and more. But nevertheless, the story satisfied me more than it should. Great writing! Always fun to try out new books!

This is my first time to read this kind of story and I am amazed how the author wrote this story. I finished reading this book in one sitting and I really enjoyed reading this book. This story really got my attention and my interest. Once you start reading this book it will be hard for you to stop because it will give us excitement regarding on what will happen in the story. Every page of the book is worth reading for. This story will let us experience the struggles of the characters and how they will overcome it. Good job to the author! Keep it up!

I love this gay romantic story. I have been always pro gay people. I mean, I want everybody to be able to express themselves and be comfortable in their own true skin. This book will be very liberating to the gay people. I love how the story sheds light to people who are confused in showing what they really feel. This book may be categorized as fiction, but the plot may really happen in real life. Loved how it’s written so I am really looking forward to the next couple of books for this.

This book lived up to its reviews, and far exceeded all of my expectations for greatness. I wish I'd had this as a teenager before I destroyed my 37 years with abusive relationships & problems related to my lack of self-worth (due to childhood trauma, abuse & rapes). Then again, I might not have been ready to absorb it then.
In any case, this is a MUST HAVE for any woman who's ever been abused, exploited, used or had a string of abusive relationships--or wants to avoid them, meaning every woman alive. Every page described common errors women have made,and I related to all of them! This book covers every single situation anyone could encounter in relationships, even what red flags to look for on 1st dates, with real-life examples everyone will recognize. I found myself laughing at some of my mistakes & grateful for the explicit instructions on how to avoid repeating them.
It is now my most-valuable tool towards one day having a mutually healthy life partner. In the meantime, it also will help with all of my other relationships with friends, family, co-workers, etc. I've written in the margins, highlighted just about every page, and will refer to it time & time again as life's challenges give me opportunities to practice the wisdom between these priceless pages. It will be the best money you've ever spent & you're worth it. :-)
